When was the first time you noticed that fashion was something someone created rather than just something you bought and put on?

I noticed that fashion was something someone created around the age of 9 or 10. My grandmother who has passed away now, had a “secret” room where she sewed and crochet. She was purely amazing.

When you begin designing new garments, what is the starting point for you?

My starting point is always the fabric or pattern. Certain fabrics are made for certain pieces.

There’s a lot of competition out there. How do you separate yourself from the pack?

I always separate myself from other brands by adding my personality. No one’s personality is the same correct? Correct.

How have you utilized it and social media to get your work and your brand to a larger audience?

Honestly, social media is what made my brand. In this generation we are lucky to have social media. You just have to be smart about it.

Fashion blogs and style bloggers are front row at Fashion Week, something that didn’t happen ten years ago. Ten years from now, what do you hope the fashion industry looks like/is headed?

I hope there are more male designers, brands & models. I think women have always owned the fashion lane. I want that to change. In the past few years we’ve (men) been progressing. I’m excited to see the future of fashion in 10 more years.

What was it like the first time you saw someone wearing your designs in real life?

I was totally blown away! And that day was the day I knew designing was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. Was the greatest feeling ever and always is. Forever grateful.
