Cody Linley’s next adventure: Taking on Sharknado
Cody Linley made a name for himself when he was young acting in films like “My Dog Skip,” “Miss Congeniality,” and “Cheaper by the Dozen,” but was it was a girl named Hannah Montana who gave him his big break. Since then, he’s danced his way to success on “Dancing With the Stars” and began writing original music, but acting has been his been his first love since he was young.
“My older brother Chad was an actor and my mom is a coach. When I was five, Chad was playing baseball as part of filming and it looked fun. As an actor, you get to explore different parts of yourself, work with interesting people and share the gift of entertainment.”
His part on the Disney Channel mega-hit, “Hannah Montana,” began to open new doors for Linley. Working on the show was an experience that taught him to be open with what opportunities presented themselves to him.
“You never know what project or experience is going to change your life or career. So trust yourself, and never be afraid to try new things,” he said.
Having left “Hannah” and “Dancing” behind him, he’s coming back to the small screen in the newest installment of the “Sharknado” franchise, “Sharknado: The 4th Awakens.” The franchise about flying sharks on a rampage made waves when it became a runaway hit for SyFy, but it hadn’t really been on Linley’s radar until he was a part of the new cast.
“I got into it once I was asked to be a part of the franchise. It’s a total thrill ride that doesn’t take itself too seriously. ‘Sharknado: The 4th Awakens’ has a nice blend of comedy and drama which I think the fans are going to love,” he says.
With a film as fun and action-packed as a “Sharknado” film, he reveled in the opportunity to try new things on screen.
“All the stunt work was definitely the most fun part,” he said. “This was my first time doing harness work on a green screen. I’m excited to see the final product!”
Beyond dodging sharks in tornadoes, he said he doesn’t have definitive details on what’s coming up next for him, but he may end up on stage soon. Until then, he’s relishing the year to date and his new shark-filled project.
“2016 has been an awesome year so far.”
