Six questions with musician Jackson Harris!
He’s opened for artists like Cody Simpson and Fifth Harmony, and with his new single, “Dance with the Devil,” Jackson Harris is making waves again. The music video for the song was choreographed by and stars Hamilton’s, Jon Rua and brings a new dynamic into his music. We’ve got six questions for Jackson about his music, his process, and where he goes from here.
What keeps you motivated and determined to make music?
Each day I wake up and I try to create something that wasn’t there before. I want to make the music I hear in my head and heart.
What is your songwriting process like?
It changes, but I try to write down my ideas in my journal or grab my guitar and play a few chords to get started. Slowly the idea grows into a concept or melody and if I’m lucky and work hard enough, it can turn into a song.
Your ‘Dance With the Devil’ music video featured a lot of dancing. What other forms of creative expression inspire you and why?
I love photography and videography. I love how you can evoke emotion by images. I also love the world of illustration and digital imaging.
Where do you feel most ‘yourself’?
Sitting on the floor of my apartment with my guitar playing songs…Or surrounded by my friends and family.
What keeps you grounded?
My mom and sister. They have helped shape me into the person I am today and they constantly love and support me.
What’s next for you?
More music, more videos, some touring and maybe even some surprises.
